have laptop, will travel

Working and studying translation since 1990, my experience spans Europe, Asia, and North America. My office is nicely contained in a carefully secured laptop. I am inspired in my translation marathons by the forests, beaches, and mountains. Interpreting in courts and at conferences has led to some of my favorite travel, on three continents - and I always spend a few more days near the venue.

Some call it stuffy...

Legal translation is my favorite kind, with patent disputes riding high on my list of translation pleasures. I love the way each word must be chosen for exactness, while the translated whole remains true to the intent of the inventors or their attorneys.

a secret vanity

Court and conference interpreting are hard work, but they have perks: I get to dress up. My collection of ties seldom gets an airing on other occasions: in the small, West Coast town where I live, there is only one person who regularly wears a suit and tie - and it's not me.

Quotes and invoices are my department

Dena and I split some of the business tasks of Shunra Media. If you need a complex quote or want to discuss a discount or payment terms, I'm your man. She's your go-to choice for tech solutions.
